EGM and Committee Meeting - Tuesday 6 December 2016

29/11/2016

At 5.30pm on Tuesday 6 December 2016, we will be holding a short Extraordinary General Meeting ("EGM") prior to our regular committee meeting in order to consider adopting a new constitution. The EGM will be held in the Conference Suite at Hunt and Coombs Solicitors, Thorpe Road, Peterborough.

The Society's existing constitution is over 20 years old and the Committee thought it would be prudent to update it. As a member of the Society, you have a right to attend the EGM and vote in respect of its adoption. A copy of the new proposed constitution has been circulated to our members.

If any member is unable to attend, but would like to vote, please email our Honorary Secretary, Ashley Sutherland at Ashley.Sutherland@hegarty.co.uk on or before 4.30pm on 5 December 2016 and request your proxy vote.

Ray Laxton Memorial Lecture - 2016

11/11/2016

Thank you to the Peterborough and City Hospital for hosting this year's Ray Laxton Memorial Lecture.

We were pleased to welcome Dr Emila Wawrzkowicz BSc, MBBS, FROCH, a Consultant Paediatrician in Peterborough and the Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Dr Emilia spoke in particular about the current topical issue of unaccompanied asylum seeking children entering the UK, including significant concerns in respect of how to assess age, trends in terms of trafficking and resource allocation across the UK.

It was fantastic to see so many medical professionals and consultants at the lecture.  Thanks, as ever, to Chef de la Maison, for their wonderful catering.

If anyone has any ideas for topics for 2017, please do get in touch ksowter@greenwoods.co.uk
