88th Annual Dinner - Thank You

18/4/2018

Thank you to everyone who attended PADLS’ 88th Annual Dinner on Friday 13 April at the Haycock Hotel, Wansford.

There were 120 attendees from a mixture of local firms including; Belinda Smith & Co, Buckles Solicitors LLP, Fenners Chambers, Greenwoods Solicitors LLP, Hegarty LLP, Hunt & Coombs, Metcalfe Copeman & Pettefar, Regency Chambers, Serjeant & Son, Sloan Plumb Wood and Taylor Rose Law.

We would specifically like to thank our Distinguished Guests for attending the evening: such as the Mayor and Mayoress of Peterborough, the Very Reverend Chris Dalliston, Honour Judge Enright (Guest Speaker), District Judge Matthews, District Judge Sheraton, Chief Executive Officers of Vivacity and Opportunity Peterborough, presidents from neighbouring law societies and some past presidents (amongst others).

We would also like to thank our sponsors: Annecto Legal, Geodesys, Law Select, MBL Seminars, the Peterborough Chartered Insurance Institute and Regency Chambers.

The evening began with a short drinks reception in the bar where guests enjoyed music by the Dave Johnson Jazz Duo and were photographed by Stacey Sowter of SnapHappy Club. We were then seated in the Ballroom where Belinda Smith (PADLS’ President) briefly welcomed our guests and thanked a number of individuals and organisations for their continued support to help make the event a success.

Belinda Smith then gave her main address and introduced the guest speaker, Honour Judge Enright, who entertained us with stories of life at the local judiciary - a topic which proved most entertaining! District Judge Sheraton then presented 3 small gifts to Olivia Chalmers (Hunt & Coombs), Rajinder Kaur (Taylor Rose) and Abigail Mehta (Hegarty) for qualifying to the roll of solicitors since our last Annual Dinner.

Finally, we heard from Peter Sara about the work of Marie Curie before winners of the charity raffle were chosen. Congratulations to everyone who won one of our raffle prizes. We raised an amazing £837.75 for Marie Curie.

Photos from the evening are now available in the blog section at http://www.snaphappyclub.co.uk/

If you have any feedback or comments about the evening, we would love to hear from you as we are keen to pass these comments on to the new Social Secretaries, Oliver Flowers and Rebecca Rudge, so they can start to plan next year’s Annual Dinner.  Oliver and Rebecca look forward to welcoming you all again next year for our 89th Annual Dinner.

Thank you so much to everyone for their support and attendance at events over the past 6 years and we look forward to attending future dinners as guests.
