Ray Laxton Memorial Lecture 2016

Ray Laxton Memorial Lecture - ‘Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children’  - Thursday 10 November 2016 

 On behalf of the Peterborough and District Law Society, you and your colleagues are invited to this year’s Ray Laxton Memorial Lecture.
 
What:
Canapé reception followed by Medico-Legal talk on ‘Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children’

Where: 
The Lecture Theatre at Peterborough City Hospital, Learning Centre, Core A
(first set of lifts from the main entrance, and then on the 4th floor, turn left & head towards the lecture theatre)

When:
Thursday 10 November 2016 from 6.00pm (the lecture will begin promptly at 6.30pm)

Cost:     
£8.50 per person for qualified medical professionals and lawyers
£5.00 per person for trainee medical professionals, trainee solicitors and pupils
(payable by 27 October 2016)

About the Speakers:
This year’s guest speaker is Dr Emilia Wawrzkowicz, MBBS, FRCPCH. Dr Emilia Wawrzkowicz is Consultant Paediatrician in Peterborough and is the Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children in Cambridge and Peterborough. She chairs the Children & Young People Safeguarding Forum in the East and is the safeguarding representative for the National Network of Designated Health Professionals for the NHSE Midlands & East. She is also a member of the RCPCH Child Protection Committee and represents the College on Child Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking. She is a member of the CSE Response Unit Advisory Group and contributed to the development of the CSE Health Response Guidance and toolkit development for Human Trafficking for health providers. Her specialist area of interest is child sexual abuse and she works as a Paediatric Forensic Medical Examiner across the UK. Currently she is engaged in the RCPCH Advisory Group on mandatory reporting. She is an active member of the College Faculty and teaches on the “From Examination to Courtroom, Expert Witness and new Blended Level 4/5 for Named and Designated Doctors courses”.
